C204 is the MBA's writing and speaking course, and it is graded on communication itself. The samples here produce a portfolio of workplace messages for a composite company recall and a recorded presentation with an executive summary.

How this shelf works

Send the exact assignment or rubric from your course of study and a custom sample written to it lands in 24 to 48 hours, the first one free. C204 is WGU’s Management Communication course. It centers on how managers write and speak to different audiences, overcome bias, adapt across cultures, negotiate and choose the right channel. What C204 is really about

Management Communication prepares students for the communication challenges of organizations, including theories and strategies of communication, persuasion, conflict management and ethics. WGU's program guide lists five competencies: communicating effectively in writing and speaking, overcoming biases that inhibit communication, developing strategies for communicating across cultures, applying negotiation and conflict management, and using technology and social media effectively.

Grading rests on two performance assessments. Task 1 is a portfolio of short workplace pieces, such as internal emails, a blog post, a persuasive letter and a public response to a complaint, written from a business scenario. The second is a recorded presentation with slides and a one-page executive summary. Each piece is judged on audience, tone, structure and correctness. The company on this shelf is a composite. Readers of the portfolio should be able to tell within the first two lines of each piece who it is for and what they need to do next.

What C204’s tasks ask for

For C204 you will usually write several messages for different audiences and channels from one scenario, each fitted to its purpose, then prepare and deliver a presentation on organizational communication with a concise executive summary.

Why C204 tasks come back for revision

Tasks are often returned when every piece sounds the same regardless of audience, when messages bury the main point, when the complaint response is defensive, or when the executive summary repeats slides instead of stating conclusions and recommendations.
