Send the exact assignment or rubric from your course of study and a custom sample written to it lands in 24 to 48 hours, the first one free. D400 is WGU’s End-of-Life Care course. It centers on supporting clients and families at the end of life: advance planning, hospice and palliative care, communication, grief and the worker's own wellbeing. What D400 is really about
End-of-Life Care covers the part of health and human services work that many students find hardest to imagine. It addresses the dying process, advance care planning and the documents that protect a person's wishes, hospice and palliative care, communication with clients and families, cultural and spiritual traditions around death, grief and bereavement, and the emotional demands of the work itself. The evaluator reads for knowledge applied with sensitivity: accurate information about documents and services, delivered in a way that respects the person and the family's values.
The written side of D400 is split in two in current versions. The first is usually case-based, asking how you would help a client plan for the end of life and communicate with family; the second often turns to the professional, asking about empathy, compassion and self-care. Students sometimes treat the second as an afterthought, but evaluators read it closely, because workers who burn out cannot help anyone. Any field experience in the program remains the student's own record. The clients and families on this shelf are composites.
What D400’s tasks ask for
The first task, as currently written, sets out a client near the end of life for you to analyze, explain the purpose of key documents such as a living will and a durable power of attorney for health care, describe how hospice or palliative care could meet the client's goals, and propose communication strategies with the client and family, including cultural and spiritual considerations. A second task often asks you to discuss empathy and compassion in human services practice and to describe how you would maintain your own wellbeing. Sources are expected throughout.
Why D400 tasks come back for revision
Case analyses come back when documents are defined but not connected to the client's situation, or when hospice is described without explaining how it meets this person's goals. Communication sections are returned when they give general advice rather than strategies for the specific family members and conflicts in the scenario. Reflective tasks fail when self-care is promised in general terms without specific practices. Revisions are routine and usually ask for more specificity.

Using a D400 sample the right way
Read a D400 sample for how information and compassion work together. Notice that each document is tied to a choice the client faces and that each family member's position is understood before a strategy is offered. Then write your own for your scenario. Send the task instructions and rubric aspects for a custom sample in 24-48h, the first one free.
How these samples are written
Every sample on this board is written the way the custom ones are: the rubric aspects decoded first, a subject-matched writer drafting each aspect visibly, format and originality checked before it ships. WGU revises courses and instruments; a custom request is always written to the aspects in YOUR portal, never from a stale template.
D400 questions, answered
What end-of-life documents should D400 cover?
Most versions expect a living will and a durable power of attorney for health care. Many also mention portable medical orders such as POLST. Explain each in plain language and connect it to the client.
How should D400 handle a family that disagrees with the client?
Understand each person's position first, then describe how you would support the client's decision while acknowledging the family's feelings, often through a family meeting.
What is the difference between empathy and compassion in D400?
Empathy is feeling with someone; compassion adds concern and action on their behalf. Research suggests compassion is more sustainable for workers than unregulated empathy.
